Greater Hartford – Central Connecticut Reliability Project Transmission

GREATER HARTFORD – CENTRAL CONNECTICUT RELIABILITY PROJECT

Client Eversource Energy
Completion Date Sept. 2021
Location West Hartford, Connecticut

Harlan Electric continues to build upon its capabilities and project experience by taking on different types of projects in challenging environments. The Greater Hartford – Central Connecticut Reliability Project (GHCCRP) required Harlan Electric crews to work closely with Amtrak personnel to construct a 2.5 mile, 115kV circuit running parallel to Amtrak’s Springfield (MRS) line southwest of Hartford, CT.

Crews had to coordinate all of their efforts with multiple Amtrak flaggers and supervisors to ensure safety of all involved in the project and with Amtrak’s regular train schedule. Other considerations included stormwater pollution prevention, contaminated soil, and invasive species controls.

Scope of work included eight concrete foundations, 39 caisson installations, 47 steel structures, and two transmission structures connected to a nearby substation.

This project was also recognized by EC&M Magazine’s Project Spotlight for its 2021 Top 50 Electrical Contractors and helped MYR Group to its No. 2 ranking on the list.
